The Murrindindi Ranges Wildlife Shelter was established in 2015 when founder Kate Turner was given shelter authorisation by DEECA. Kate had 4 previous years experience in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation before becoming a shelter operator.
The 150 acre property the shelter is located on was purchased for the specific purpose to rehabilitate and release wildlife. The shelter operator Kate also went back to university and completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology to upskill and have the capability to handle difficult cases. Building on her previous Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience.
Murrindindi Ranges Wildlife Shelter receives no funding from the government or any of the ‘wildlife’ groups.
Along with the mortgage for the new property brought specifically for wildlife, so that there is somewhere safe for us to release kangaroos, there is also the cost of feed, milk, fuel, fencing materials, medications, bandaging and medical supplies.
Any donations are gratefully received and allow us to keep caring for the animals impacted on by human activity. Thank you.
